Artist Inspirstion

We are often intrigued by the mystery of the unknown. We look forward to surprises in life that are to be revealed. Sometimes we so look forward to what is to come that we lose sight of the journey. By examining the simplicities such as shipping bags, boxes, and packages, we find that there is much to be enjoyed before you know what’s on the inside. Each bag has its own story in texture, line, form and color. The angles and juxtaposition to each other becomes a fascinating exploration.  If we focus on the journey, our lives are enriched by the discovery before the big “reveal” of what surprise awaits at the end.  While divulging the contents of each package adds to our excitement, it is then the realization occurs that we were supposed to enjoy the entire journey.  It is in the moment of revealing that awakens us to the truth about ourselves and about our lives.  This charming painting will make a wonderful accent in a bedroom, office or store.  Enjoy the journey!  Read more about Artist Statement and Artist Biography.

Media

This painting is first sketched in charcoal from a still-life presentation.  Acrylic paints are then added followed by textural elements such as paper and fabric which are adhered by a gel medium.  Once this is done, paint is then added and blended into the textural elements to unify the painting.  The colors are seducing, the designs are exciting, and the overall painting becomes a charming vision and discussion.  Let this It's All In The Bag painting move you by hanging in your home, office, restaurant or studio!  Artist's Statement The mundane is not necessarily what we assume.  It is only by looking carefully at the simple, the still, and the uneventful that we find complex form, exquisite angles, sumptuous subtlety, and intricate design that we might have otherwise overlooked.  These still-lifes from bags and boxes are an excellent example that debunks our frivolous assumption.  By careful examination, we find that these simple forms are extraordinary.  And then there is the element of surprise and anticipation that add the thrill of these charming paintings.
