COLOR THEORY

We incorporate color theory in all of our creations, which is highly important to successful designs.  According to Wikipedia, “in the visual arts color theory is a body of practical guidance to color mixing and the visual effects of a specific color combination.”  Colors are categorized onto three classes of colors.  Primary colors are the only colors that cannot be mixed, as they are original colors we have to start with, and there are three primary colors being red, yellow, and blue. Secondary colors emerge as mixtures between each of the three Primary Colors and include orange, green, and purple.  Tertiary colors result as the mix between one Primary Color and one Secondary Color.  Examples of these include red-orange, orange-yellow, yellow-green, green-blue, blue-purple, and purple-red.  A basic clockwise circular colorchart of colors is created from each primary color and each secondary color and starts and the top with red and circles to orange, yellow, green, blue, and finally purple, connecting back to red again.

COMPLIMENTARY COLORS

What are complimentary colors?  Complementary colors are pairs of colors from the color chart that are exactly opposite each other on a typical color chart. Iassic Newton described complementary colors as opposite colors on the color chart which cancel each other’s hue to produce a neutral color (achromatic color) of gray, brown, or black.  Each Complimentary Color consists of one Primary Color and one Secondary Color.  Compliment pairs are red & green, orange & blue, and yellow & purple.  When compliments are put next to each other in space, or in a design, they often create a visual illusion of “movement” together which is often an exciting element of design.  We have many pairs of complimentary colors in our amazing multi-colored earrings that will dazzle your visual experience!

Color Shades and Analagous Colors

When colors are used of the same color, it creates a lovely pleasing effect.  One way to do this is with Color Shades.  An example of this is using a combination of light green, green, and dark green in a composition.  This occurs by the addition of white, black, or a neutral color mixed with the color to achieve this.  Analagous Colors are colors that are next to each other on the color chart that are used in combination.  An example of Analagous Color is a design that is created with yellow, orange-yellow, and yellow-green.  Yellow is the common color each of these thee colors share, and they are directly next to each other on the color chart.  This type of design is extraordinary, and many beautiful designs are designed this way.  Our designers often use wonderful combinations with Analagous Color or tinted shades to create marvelous effects.

Harmonious Color

When discussing visual compositions, “harmony” is something that is considered pleasing to the eye or a design that simply “works.”  Harmonious color compositions seem to engage the viewer and they seem to exude a strong sense of order and balance when viewing. The opposite of harmony is chaos.  When a composition is generally disordered and exudes an unbalanced effect it can be seen as disharmonious or chaotic.  While harmony us always somewhat subjective, most artists have an instinctive basis for color in their designs, and tend to create works that appear harmonious.  Our artists are highly skilled and trained and screened and each has a unique eye for design.  We feel you will find very harmonious and BEAUTIFUL color combinations in our earrings that will revitalize your wardrobe.
