Masterful, luminous, and mysterious, Kimberly Franklin's portfolio of Mixed Media Waterscapes will draw you into a watery world! After studying Biology & Chemistry in college, Kimberly became particularly enamored with the intricate, pattern-filled cellular structures under a microscope, in the ocean, all throughout nature, and from within the human body. These studies became the reference which she used to develop her remarkable visions of life forms and underwater, undulating worlds.
Then there were her surroundings with the dry yet colorful deserts of New Mexico where Kimberly attended school and found inspiration. She marveled at Georgia O'Keeffe's flowing and folded flowers, sumptuous landscapes of bending hills and splendid color and light which she embraced. Kimberly found that colors, patterns and forms from life sciences were now articulated throughout her artwork. And yet, a move to the Gulf coast added even more interest in exploring the flow of color, plants, life, and water.
Flowing, colorful and ethereal, Kimberly Franklin's work conveys a sensation of life, tranquility and of stillness. The ebb and flow of life from desert to ocean has shaped her artistic language and vision. In her own worlds, "these rich experiences and relics have found their way into my dreams and onto my canvases."
